Students visit the computer lab once every other week as part of their block schedule. However, teachers are encouraged to sign up to visit during some of the open blocks. In the lab, we focus on teaching students how to be responsible users of technology. We use the Microsoft Office programs, Kidspiration, Pixie, and the Internet. All technology lessons are tied to the grade level's curricular objectives.
Class Announcements This Month in the LabJanuary Technology Lessons:
In Kindergarten, students are using the SMARTBoard Notebook software to practice combining animals for "Mrs. Charnick's Zoo." They will also practice typing a few sentences in Microsoft Word. In 1st grade, students are using PowerPoint to describe what they've learned about the sun and what they've researched about animals. In 2nd grade, students created a graphic organizer in Kidspiration about Economic Vocabulary. They also are learning how to format their work in Microsoft Word as they type up their "How To" descriptions.
